We were excited to be able to design and produce a contemporary Asian restaurant dinning room and patio in downtown Lawrence, KS named Baan Thai. This project allowed us to design the entire dinning room area which also features a bar and bar display area as well as provided custom metal tables and resin chairs for the large patio. Being artists our self, we always like to incorporate artists into a project if at all feasible. In this case we designed two different styles of custom glass blown pendant lights that were produced by a local artist. We were in the studio during the design phase as we determined the final shapes with the artist. Their are nine white rippled long pendant lights along each wall and 40 clear glass globe shaped LED pendants in a central cluster over a 16 foot double sided custom grey tufted banquette booth. The 14 foot long community table is made from two beautiful solid walnut live edge slabs over which the restaurant name is displayed in LED marquee style lights that face the floor. The community table is dressed by the Italian designed and made Punk chairs with green resin base and green polycarbonate tops. The bar area is a 12 foot long solid maple top which is highlighted by a remote controlled color changing LED light glowing from the base. Cut directly out of the wall behind the bar are three recessed wine and spirits display LED light areas that highlight the available drinks. At the reception area you are greeted by a custom maple desk, and along the glass wall entrance is a high seating area made from solid maple with a custom silver coated steel base. There is a large outdoor seating area with built in heaters. The outdoor tables are custom designed and built in powder coated steel. The tables are surrounded by dark grey outdoor cast resin chairs. Inside the tables are solid custom maple tops with a silver steel powder coated base, these tables are flanked by red-orange Punk resin and polycarbonate chairs.
